NATURAL GAs COmmUNiTY An exhibition on local history was opened at Museum Centre Vapriikki,Tampere, in December 2009. How a city emerged by the rapids An exhibition opened in December 2009 at museum Centre vapriikki, Tampere, takes visitors on a journey through this industrial city that emerged by the rapids of the local river. The exhibition also brings a much-loved model depicting the city in 1890 back to the public, this time upgraded with new multimedia technology. The exhibition also covers Tampere phenomena such as food, rock and local ice hockey teams. Tampere and the local area are highly important natural gas users and Gasum’s customers, so it was well justified to enter into a multiyear partnership agreement. GAsUm’s PARTNERs Espoo Museum of Modern Art (EMMA) EmmA and Gasum have been partners since the museum’s opening. EmmA is based on the City of Espoo collection and the saastamoinen foundation collection and also organises changing exhibitions on contemporary and 20th century finnish and foreign art. Every year Gasum invites its customers and partners to visit newly-opened EmmA exhibitions. in 2009 Gasum’s guests saw the Tapio Wirkkala exhibition. Gasum and EmmA share the same values of professionalism and expertise. The Central Association for Recreational Sports and Outdoor Activities The Central Association for Recreational sports and Outdoor Activities (suomen Latu) is a promoter of physical activity outdoors, an expert in wilderness excursions and an NGO open to all. it has 77,000 members and 224 member associations. Gasum entered into a partnership agreement with the association in 2008, which has resulted in activities including the move it with Good Energy campaign to challenge Gasum’s customers and partners for physical exercise. The campaign ended in June 2009 and its online physical activity diary clocked almost 12,000 entries with an energy total equalling 10,000 kWh (8,720,000 kcal), which was donated for use in illuminating cross-country skiing tracks in kiilopää, Lapland. Kouvolan Kouvot Established in 1964, kouvolan kouvot is a basketball team based in kouvola and operating all over the northern kymenlaakso area. in the past ten years kouvot has established its position as one of the top teams in finnish basketball. kouvola is also home to Gasum’s largest unit in terms of number of employees, the Natural Gas Centre, and the southeastern region of kymenlaakso overall has been using natural gas for a long time as it has several large forest industry facilities. Gasum wants to be visible in the everyday life of kymenlaakso people by supporting local sports teams and their junior activity. Technology Academy Finland The objective of Technology Academy finland (TAf) is to promote scientific research and innovation to develop technologies that are based on humane values and have a positive impact on the quality of life and also forms of cooperation that support such achievements.The TAf awards the international millennium Technology Prize. Gasum has been a TAf partner company since 2006. Päivi Purola from the Central Association for Recreational Sports and Outdoor Activities shows the contents of a geocache at the ﬁnal event of the year’s physical activity challenge. 24
